I became a Community Manager for Khoros in May 2019. I have a background in social media and sincerely enjoy building and nurturing communities. I love watching anime, going to the beach and parks, reading comics, and doting over my two cats.
The last two months came with big updates for Khoros. In August, Jack Blaha, Khoros’ new CEO introduced himself to the community and shared his plans for Khoros. In September, we celebrated the community’s 11th anniversary and unveiled our new name, Atlas , during Engage. Speaking of Engage , we also shared two recaps that you can read here and here .
Over the last two months, we blogged about the difference between Social Media Monitoring and Listening , Brand Authenticity on Social , and shared a sneak peek at the Customer Engagement Maturity Model that was presented at Engage.
We also launched 3 new Product Coaching areas in Atlas: Community , Care , and Marketing . Customers can take advantage of this great resource and schedule 1:1 sessions with our platform experts. For customers new to Atlas, check out the Guide to Atlas Product Coaching Session .
There were some great discussions on Atlas over the last few months like @sarah_m ’s topic about badge redesigns that includes some great examples of badges on other communities and @Enidin's topic about the community life cycle .

Today we unveiled a new logo and name for the Khoros Community, Atlas !
Staying in line with our Greek theme ( Khoros meaning chorus ), Atlas was chosen to represent our community as a place to receive guidance. Like a map, Atlas is a way to look at the big picture, as well as all of the parts that comprise it.
With that theme in mind, we will be making some changes to Atlas to improve your experience and make it easier for you to find content and collaborate with your peers. We already started today by renaming the Khoros Corner category to “Atlas Resources & News” and the Khoros View Blog to “Atlas Insights”, with the hope these names changes will make it easier to quickly know what kind of content you’ll find in those areas.

Today marks the Khoros Community’s 11 year anniversary! Khoros started out as Lithium, a smaller company for peer-to-peer support. We’ve now grown into a robust company with products that span across the digital landscape.
It has been an exciting year here at Khoros! The past year was full of many changes, with the biggest highlight being that Lithium and Spredfast merged to create Khoros .
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to our community over the years. You’ve helped make it an amazing place to connect, learn, ideate and share knowledge. The Khoros Community wouldn’t be what it is without you.

Creating your first post
In this video, we’ll show you how to post, which is an essential way to engage in the Khoros Community.
To create your first post, sign in to community.khoros.com and go to the board where you want to post.
Look for the Post button such as, “Create New Post” and click it. The text of the post button differs slightly based on the type of board you are on.
The message editor opens where you can enter your content. Type in your subject and body text. You can add images, videos, or attachments if necessary.
If your post is about a Khoros Product, add an “Associated Project” by typing in the text box.
Add any necessary labels, product associations, and message tags.
We recommend you select “Email me when someone replies” to stay updated on replies to your post.

Reward and engage with community members
There other ways you can engage with content in the community other than replying to a post. You can give kudos, mark a reply as an accepted solution, and mention users.
Kudos are a way for you to give approval to content you like. To kudo a post, scroll to the bottom of the post and click the Kudo (thumb’s up) button.
Next we’ll talk about Accepted Solutions. If you post a question in a forum and another member replies with an answer, you can mark that reply as an “Accepted Solution.”
After a solution is accepted, the original message is marked as “Solved”.
Finally, you can engage in the community by mentioning other members. If you come across a question or message in the community and know another member who might have the answer or valuable insights to share, you can mention that person in your reply or post by typing the @ symbol and typing their username.
Members who are mentioned are notified and can then easily visit the post they were mentioned in and reply.
These features not only make our community more engaging, but also rewards members for their contributions.

Tour your profile
Let’s tour your profile and show you some of the different elements that make it up.
To go to your profile, go to community.khoros.com and sign in.
Click your Avatar and select the “My profile” option.
In profile header, you can see the date you joined, badges earned, and your engagement statistics.
To see all of the badges you’ve earned and can earn, click “View all badges” in your profile header.
Go back to your profile header by clicking the breadcrumb where it shows “About” followed by your username.
Scroll down your profile to see your bio.
Below your bio, you can use the arrow to see either “Topics I’ve Participated In” or “Recent Contributions”.
On the right side of your profile, you can view and click through the photos you’ve published in the community.
We hope that helped you become familiar with your Community profile. As you visit your profile, you’ll notice that certain sections are updated as you engage in the community.
Updating your profile
In this video, we’re going to show you how to personalize your profile, including how to update your avatar, personal information, and background.
Let’s start by updating your avatar. Go to community.khoros.com and sign in.
Click your “Avatar” on the top-right corner and then click “My Settings”.
Click “Avatars” in the settings menu bar.
To choose an avatar from our out-of-the-box collections, click the drop-down menu and select the collection you’d like to view.
Click on the avatar image you want to use for your avatar to automatically update.
To upload your own avatar image, click “Upload an Avatar”.
Upload a photo from your computer, your albums, another site or from the community and click “Save”.
Drag the selection tool to resize or reposition your image and click “Save and Continue”.
Follow the same steps for your “Message Thumbnail” and click “Save”.
While you’re here, let’s update your bio. Under Settings, go to “Personal”.
Click the drop-down menu and select “Personal Information”.
Type in any additions you’d like to make to your personal information and click “Save”.
To change the background of your profile, click on your “Avatar” in the top right corner.
Click “My Profile” and then click “Edit Background” in your profile header.
Click “Choose file”.
Upload an image.
Now you know how to update your profile, we encourage you to personalize your profile to help make the most out of your community experience.
Edit your notifications
In this video, we’re going to show you how to edit your notifications, so you get notified about what you care about most, in the timeframe you want.
Go to community.khoros.com and sign in.
Click your “Avatar” and select the “My Settings” option.
Click “Subscriptions & Notifications” in the settings menu.
Here, you can change all your subscription and notification settings.
To edit what notifications you receive and how often, click “Notification Settings”. You can select to receive notifications Immediately, Daily, Weekly, or Never.
Select your preferred notifications and click “Save” at the bottom of the page.
We encourage you to take the time to explore the rest of your settings and edit your profile and preferences to your liking.
How to subscribe and unsubscribe to content
The community is filled with lots of interesting and valuable content. To make sure you stay up-to-date with the information you care about the most, we’re going to show you how to subscribe and unsubscribe to content.

Go to community.khoros.com and sign in.
To subscribe to a board, go to the board you want to subscribe to.
Click the “Follow” button on the top of the page. You’ll also see that you can click the button again to unsubscribe.
To subscribe to a label within a board, click on the label.
Doing so filters the board to only show posts that include that label. At the top of the page you’ll see a message that you can “Subscribe to a label”. Click “Subscribe”. Just like the boards, you can unsubscribe to the label by clicking “Unsubscribe”.
To bulk unsubscribe, visit your profile settings by clicking on your Avatar.
Then click “My settings”.
Go to “Subscriptions & Notifications”.
Then “My subscriptions”.
Select any of the subscriptions you’d like to delete.
Then click the menu button at the top left of the section and click “Delete Selected Subscriptions”.
By subscribing to boards and labels, you’ll receive emails whenever new content is posted based on your notification frequency preferences. This is an easy way to stay updated on the topics that matter most to you.
