Paul Gilliham is Lithium's Director of Customer Marketing, responsible for customer engagement marketing, social media and Lithium's own community, the Lithosphere.
Attending breakfast meetings mean you get up early - running a breakfast meeting means you get up even earlier... The Get Real 2010 World Tour kicked off today in San Francisco, in some style too.
Just under 80 people packed into the mezzanine level at the Clift Hotel on Geary to hear from Lithium, it's customers and partners about what it takes to get 'real' results from their social strategies.
Katy Keim (@katykeim) Lithium CMO was joined by Consumer Affairs Manager for FICO, Barry Paperno and Sean O'Driscoll (@seanodmvp), the CEO and Ant Advocate for social strategy consultants, Ant's Eye View.
At Lithium we believe deeply in the success of our customers and this roadshow tour is built around that notion. Success is the result of measured steps, and Sean talked through the series of revelations that he had working in community at Microsoft and how superusers interact with and can add value to a company.
He also ran through the steps that a business can take to become an 'Engaged Enterprise', helping attendees gauge their level of social engagement aligned with Ant's Eye's engagement model.
Barry at FICO talked through the astounding results that he has seen from the myFICO community over the last three years, including the great stat that community members spend 41% more than non members. The myFICO community was a winner of the 2009 Forrester Groundswell awards and is a featured casestudy in Josh Bernoff's new book 'Empowered'.
As an aside, Josh and Barry will be talking through both the new book and the myFICO results in our webcast on September 29th
Attendees had the opportunity to ask both Barry and Sean their opinions on a number of specific topics, from how to sustain superuser activity in communities, to how to best coordinate activity between multiple teams in an organization.
We have six more tour locations to go through the rest of September and October - next up is Chicago on the 22nd Sept. Full details of the tour schedule are here on the Get Real site. Sign up and come and see us.
I have posted up the slides from the San Francisco event up on Slideshare. They don't have the same zing as when Katy, Sean and Barry deliver them, but I know many of the attendees wanted to get the material, and we're happy to help.
