This inflates the number before you click "select all." You may notice that if you select the check box on a Multi-day ad, the same ad on a prior or later day will also show as selected on each day and the indicator at the top left will say "1 item selected." If you filter your calendar to only posts, you won't come across the discrepancy anymore and should help clear confusion!
