X, formerly Twitter, is continuing to evolve their commercial strategy and modernize their API platform, and will officially deprecate select legacy v1.1 API endpoints. One batch of changes will occur on Sep 20, 2023, and the second batch will follow on Nov 20, 2023.
We'll explain what this means for you, how it may impact your operations with Khoros, and most importantly, how our support team is ready to assist you.
How It May Affect You:
Khoros has successfully performed the migration to X’s appropriate v2 API endpoints, and most customers will notice zero change in their workflows, or application performance. However, there are some notable capability differences between v1.1 and v2 that we describe below:
- Search Streams: We have migrated to the v2 API for search which correlates with Search streams within Social Inbox. There is a possibility that results may vary moving forward for these stream types. If results have changed significantly, you may want to adjust your query. Users making use of the advanced X operators will have to use the v2 version of those operators on new streams.
- Users Search: When publishing to X, you will no longer be able to make use of the “type ahead” functionality for @mentioning users, which previously presented results for handles as you were typing. You must type your desired X handle exactly as it appears on the native network for the mention to function. This v1 endpoint will be deprecated on September 20th and there is not currently a replacement within v2.
- Video Embed: When publishing, we will no longer be able to restrict the embed-ability of videos uploaded to X so this option will not be available when uploading a video to X. This v1 endpoint will be deprecated on November 20th and there is not currently a replacement within v2.
