This guide helps you configure AI Moderation and the Appeals System
This guide helps you configure AI Moderation and the Appeals System in your Aurora community to automate content review while maintaining quality standards. It is written for admins (including non-technical admins) and focuses on what you can configure in the Admin UI.
Recommended setup order
- Enable AI Settings and select models → Settings > AI Settings
- Enable Spam Management → Settings > Moderation > Spam Management
- Enable AI Moderation and set confidence threshold → Settings > Moderation > Spam Management
- Configure moderation styles per content type → Settings > Moderation > Moderation Types
- Add Community Guidelines for more customised Moderation → Settings > Moderation > Community Guidelines
- Configure Reason Codes → Settings > Moderation > Reason Codes
- Add board context for contextually-aware decisions → Board Settings > Moderation
- Enable Appeals System (optional) → Settings > Moderation > Appeals
- Configure Activity Limits, Content Archive, Abuse Notifications, and Content Filters
- Test with sample content and verify workflows
AI Moderation automatically analyzes community content to detect spam, policy violations, and other issues, reducing moderator workload while maintaining community standards. The Appeals System allows users to challenge moderation decisions through a structured review process, providing accountability and helping catch false positives.
Before you can enable AI Moderation, you must have AI Settings enabled with models selected (Settings > AI Settings) and Spam Management enabled (Settings > Moderation > Spam Management). Without both, the AI Moderation toggle will be disabled.
