Release Notes should never be archived

I have been researching some CSS optimization on Khoros Classic for some 30 minutes here on Atlas. This was made harder by

  1. the fact that I cannot use external search engines any longer to search Atlas. See End the Google moratorium
  2. older Khoros Classic Community Release Notes obviously being archived.

The latter is actually much worse of those two challenges, because Release Notes often contain the only documentation about features and functionality that was new or changed in that release. I can only hope this was an oversight when using mass archiving, but please bring back the Classic Release Notes ASAP. E.g. https://community.khoros.com/t5/Khoros-Community-Release-Notes/Khoros-Communities-19-7-Release-Notes/ba-p/538709#performance

Seems the oldes Release Notes still available today is 20.8 which I only found by clicking through the pagination: Release Notes and Info - Page 4 - Atlas (khoros.com)

  • +1 on release notes.  I argued long ago the only reason I am as good as I am with Khoros is because soon after I started working with it, I went back through and read every single release note ever.  They contain tremendously more valuable information than the documentation itself ever done.

Oh wow that’s such a good idea StanGromer! would give a great understanding of the history of features, which are sometimes inexplicable except if you understand the history (eg admin settings that are there even tho not used any more).

Hey all, moved this to the Atlas Suggestions area as it has to do with how content is managed on the community.

I'll flag one of our docs people on this idea in case they want to respond. Great suggestion!

  • Any news here? I'm blocked on a project by the fact that the release notes are still archived 😐

Claudius StanGromer Dudes! I shall go into the dragon cave/archive and find the treasures you seek (I think.)

I'm going to try and unarchive all the things but it might take some digging. Is there something you want me to prioritize so you can get unblocked Claudius

This was definitely part of a mass archiving sitch in which I didn't even consider that old/ancient release notes would be something people referenced. Mea culpa!

Doing a bit of cleanup here. Claudius I haven't seen any new release notes going missing, have you? If not (and barring us doing that again in the future), I'll mark this as Delivered.

A bit of a trick question, because if another release notes article has been archived I wouldn't know ;-) But the articles I had flagged have been restored, so happy to have this closed as delivered.
