Email Templates - User Guide Overview

This guide covers how to view, customize, create, and manage email templates in Khoros Aurora communities

Overview

Every community action - a registration, a mention, a solved question - generates an email. These emails are the thread that keeps pulling members back. Email templates give you control over what those emails look like and say, so every touchpoint reflects your brand and drives the behavior you want.

Your platform comes with 35 system templates across 10 categories. These system templates are already active - they send automatically through the legacy flow and cannot be turned off. The Email Template Designer lets you create branded versions of these templates and create entirely new templates from scratch.

Visual Editor

Point-and-click builder with Text, Photos, Button, Divider, Spacer, and Footer blocks

Template Variables

Dynamic placeholders (e.g., {userLogin}, {communityTitle}) auto-populated at send time

Canvas Backgrounds

Solid color or gradient backgrounds with preset swatches and hex code input

Desktop & Mobile Preview

Toggle between desktop and mobile views before publishing

Versioning

Create multiple versions, test drafts, and promote when ready

Send Test

Send a test email to your admin inbox before publishing

Orchestrator Integration

Trigger custom templates via Rules with event-based triggers and conditions

Note: All 35 system templates are already sending emails via the legacy flow. The Email Template Designer is for creating branded versions - nothing is broken if you have not activated any templates yet.
