Metrics Explorer - Data Point Breakdown

The most powerful capability of the detail dialog is the ability to drill into any single data point on the chart. Clicking a data point reveals a Drill Down panel below the chart, showing the underlying items that contributed to the value at that date.

Drill-down dimensions

The drill-down panel offers 3 filters at the top right (e.g., Topics, Boards, Places). Switching between them re-groups the table by that entity type — so you can see which specific topics drove the value, then pivot to see which boards, then which places.

Drill-down columns

The drill-down table shows, for each contributing item: the item name (linked to the source content), the metric value (e.g., Views), the previous-period value (Prev Views), the percentage change, and contextual columns such as Board and Content Type. Click any column header to sort. The percentage change column highlights items marked "New" — entries that didn't exist in the previous period.

Note: Drill-down is the answer to "which specific things caused this?" — when a metric drops or spikes, click the data point on the day of the change and pivot through Topics, Boards, and Places to identify the drivers.
