My question is: Can I get an email notification when something goes to spam quarantine?
About half the posts that get put in quarantine are valid messages that I release as NOT SPAM. The problem is I don't know when something gets marked as spam. I have to constantly check the quarantine and if I don't, users get frustrated because their post is spam. I'd just like to receive an email when something gets marked as spam so I can check it and release it in a timely manner if it's a valid post.
I haven't been able to see anywhere that I can set up notifications for spam like I can for abuse.
Thanks in advance.
Doesn't look like you can get notifications on items going into spam quarantine, per the comment thread on this: https://community.lithium.com/t5/Spam-Filtering/Spam-quarantine-alert-messages-in-the-community/ta-p...
I ended up simply turning off the spam quarantine in my community because it was causing more trouble than it was worth.
You are right @CarolineS. The spam quarantine needs to be reviewed on a regular basis and you'll have to mark non-spam as "Not Spam" to get them back and approved on the community. Over time, the tool will learn what is spam vs. what isn't. It does take some time so I highly recommend turning it back on (when you are seeing a lot of spam) and giving it time to learn.
Thanks @LarryI! Surprisingly enough, we get very little spam. But the next time we get an influx, I'll turn the quarantine back on to help the algorithm learn.
I definitely think the quarantine is helpful. A lot of spam gets caught there and the ability to block and IP address, and sometimes when necessary, an IP range (using CIDR notation no less....other community platforms I manage can't do that) is helpful to block repeat spammers.
I'll create an Idea to enable notifications. Thanks for the info. - Kim
Alas, someone else needs this too as there is already an idea on it, but a Lithium person responding to the idea has mistaken the intent for something else. Please vote this up. I need it. 🙂
Here's another Idea which I posted and takes the whole concept of notifications one step further
