Community Member Spotlight

Hello peeps,

we are gearing up to roll out Community Member Spotlight. I just wanted to see if anyone had done anything particularly cool/different/unique with this pretty standard thing.

In terms of the Khoros platform and in general terms.

If your community does it, I'd love to see what you've created.

You can see our highlighted community member on the right side of our home page:  https://community.microfocus.com   It's something we built.   Put in the user ID of the person and it links to their profile page and I can also add a URL to an article talking about the reason for the highlight.   In case that was something like what you're looking for.

Our Member Spotlight is pretty standard / run-of-the-mill, but at least we have a cute graphic? People seem to really enjoy being spotlighted and we always get at least a few congratulatory comments. We try to always make our members the stars of the show. So we feature rotating photos of our members as well as their projects on our front page hero image, have a meet the community seciton on the front page as well as a leaderboard, and an About Us section where we feature member profile stories.

We have a page dedicated to our experts which we refresh annually but we could do a better job at promoting it throughout the community I must say. 😊

We had caricatures created at one of our meetups for all experts and continued to do this as part of the program. Experts could request one and send a picture and we had an artist draw the caricature.

I wanted to get your thoughts on frequency. Monthly versus quarterly or any other time frame. 

Do you feel like monthly is too frequent that the tasks brings fatigue to your CM?

We do ours monthly. Sometimes it’s a bit of a scramble but I think the fairly regular cadence is helpful. And it’s not a huge lift - we email the person a congratulations and a few questions and they answer by email.
