Hm that's very interesting:
It also works inside the content by the way:
Is it possible to prevent these kind of characters?
I know they are just unicode and don't break anything, but for a serious community it seems a bit weird if someone starts using icons especially in headlines.
Imagine headlines like:
"This is totally 💩"
"☠️This community is dead ☠️"
These icons put a lot of attention to the headlines and in the worst case they can be mixed up with the normal layout:
"🔒This topic is locked"
You can already disable emoji categories from being listed in the emoji dropdown in the editor toolbar. See Enable emojis for your community
This would still allow them to be added via external emoji keyboards to a thread title.
@Claudius ☝ Sorry, but the unicode "fancy" symbols are something completly different from the emojis you mentioned.
Just to be clear: The emoji picker introduced with editor v2 is replacing the built in emoticon set with the unicode one. This will produce the unicode emojis "fancy symbols" ⭐⭕⁉⌛ you used in this topic here.
You are right, the emoji picker is also just adding the same unicode icons and can be disabled. It is still possible to get all kinds of icons by using copy-paste from somewhere else or via all kinds of "unicode input features".
So I still think an optional mechanism to filter all emojis or a definable list of unicode at least for the topic would be nice.
It should 🤞be possible to create acontent filter ⚠️and feed it with a list 📃 of unicode emojis 🔞 you don't 🚫want to be used on your 👈 community. That's probably 👨💻 the most comprehensive way 💪 to ensure they are not 🛑used anywhere in content. 😈
