Is it possible to create a private community, where only the ones I grant the access can enter?

Yes.

You have even more control if you're using Single Sign-on.  But even if you are not using Single Sign-on, this is still possible.

To extend the question, I'd like to create a private community and turn on reply-by-email. In the email, is there a choice to "reply by email" or "click to view the conversation online"? If so, will the user have to log in if they choose to go to the site to post?  Some platforms embed a token in the email so that a user clicking the link is automatically logged in when they go to the site.

Could you explain how to create a private community please?
