how to escape emoticon characters?

If i have a 😮 in a URL or something in my Lithium post, it gets auto-translated to an emoticon, which is not what i want.

Can I escape that character set or that whole string somehow?

ah, i just used the 'insert code' option and that...creates a code sample/block/insert, of course, but it also turns off emoji, which is good.

thanks.

@shmooth- There is a settings available for this in community admin. You can turn off emotions for a single board, category or community.
