After a lot of late nights in the office and working with customers throughout the beta program, I’m excited to announce that the Community Android SDK is officially GA! The Community Android SDK allows brands to quickly and easily integrate community with their mobile app, enabling them to deliver a unified experience across devices. There are two paths to development: developers can quickly get started with the mobile-support UI or build a fully customized experience with an API-backed integration.
How does the Community Android SDK benefit your customers?
According to Forrester, 84% of people used a mobile app to solve a support issue compared to just 24% five years ago. By embedding community with your mobile app, your customers will be able to access self-service and crowdsourced support anytime, anywhere without leaving your mobile app.
How does the Community Android SDK benefit brands?
Increase call deflection with self-service and crowdsourced mobile support
Deliver a seamless community experience across devices. The community already lives on your website; extend that experience onto mobile and create a better integration between the community and brand experience.
What about iOS?
Android is only the first part of the solution! Our team is working on an iOS SDK with similar capabilities that will be available at the end of the year. For questions, feel free to leave a comment or reach out to me directly.
This product launch would not have been possible without contributions of the Lithium team and our customers. I’d like to give a shoutout to Samsung America, Samsung Europe, Waze, giffgaff, and Infogain for providing invaluable feedback during the beta program that helped shaped the product to what it is today.
The beta program helped us identify and ship the following notable improvements:
New custom SSO capability with background login
Added anonymous browsing support
New utility methods for checking user login / initialization state
New API providers for:
Mark message(s) or topic(s) read/unread
Generic REST PUT client
To get started, read the Developer Documentation or reach out to your Technical Account Manager. Our example app provides a starting point and a reference for using the SDK libraries in your app.
Even though the beta period is over, the team and I still want to hear from you! Please post your questions and ideas on our developer discussion board.
Thanks to all everyone involved for helping us achieve this product milestone!
