In my ideal portal, there are 2 areas to comment -
If a comment is posted within the comment section under "change status" and the actual status is untouched, the status automatically changes back to "new." Is this correct functionality?
Can it be changed?
Is the workaround to only comment in the lower section?
The first comment box with the idea status dropdown should only be seen by users with the permissions to update the status. If the user comments there, the status will update to whatever is selected in the dropdown - which by default will be new. I agree that this is confusing behavior - ideally, the status in the dropdown should match whatever is the current status of the idea.
If all of your users are seeing the status comment box, you should check the permissions for the idea exchange (or even the category or community level) to ensure this wasn't set as a default permission.
Thanks for the reply - the view I showed was an Admin view so this causes an issue when we go into manage ideas and their status. I guess we need to be careful.
