Add image as attached in email templates

I'm looking to embed images in email templates vs using <img src=""/>. Can anyone help me understand how to do this?

Hi,

Could you clarify a bit more what you want to achieve? 

Instead of img it's possible to set up images as a background from styles. However, it's better to know more details before suggest anything specific.
