Does anyone know if you can exclude specific roles from your badging criteria?
Also, has anyone done this with a badging implementation?
We are discussing excluding our Paid Agents from earning badges for activities such as Posts, Kudos, Solutions, etc.?
Thanks so much!
Teresa
Solved! Go to Solution.
It appears that the current functionality allows you to grant badges based on roles, but you cannot exclude them.
You could give all users of the community a specific role, remove it from the users that you do not want to allow badges for, and use the inclusion of that role as the basis for all badges. This is a bit of a complicated workaround, but it should work.
Urgh. It should be as simple as excluding certain roles from Kudos and Accepted Solutions leaderboards.
This is a big one for us as we're setting up badges at the moment and I don't think staff should be awarded them. It is far better to have staff "outside" of all gamification elements. The same problem still exists for Category Experts, which was particularly problematic at the last community I managed. We never wanted to suggest that our support team were anything but experts in all areas. They didn't need to earn a badge to "prove it".
I've posted the idea at - http://community.lithium.com/t5/Product-ideas/Exclude-certain-roles-from-earning-badges/idi-p/194351
Thanks for the heads up @BrianOblinger and @fifiproffitt

I suppose it depends on the use case, but I think gamification for employees is equally as important as it is for other members of the community. Typically we'd want to make sure employees feel rewarded for their contributions as well (outside of, you know, a paycheck).
The middle ground here is probably to create some tailored gamification elements that apply only to those with the employee role. Which, of course, lends even more credibility to the idea that we'd want to be able to exclude specific roles from a subset of badges.
You have my kudo on your idea. 🙂
Thanks @BrianOblinger,
I agree that gamification elements can also help engage staff, I just don't think they should be visible to other community members. Which is where another idea for staff-only hidden ranks from @PerBonomi kicks in. Perhaps this could be extended to hidden badges, too.

Ahh, very cool idea. More kudos. 🙂
We don't have paid agents, but I would like to showcase our customers' kudos to encourage them to participate more. While our employees can certainly earn badges, I would prefer to have the leaderboards show only the customers. Right now, our employees are dominating providing solutions - which is great, but it is making the community have the feel of a support center rather than a gathering place.
Hi @RaySavich
Not sure if you are aware that you can exclude certain roles (such as your employees) from Kudos and Accepted Solutions leaderboards so they are left to your customers only.
For Kudos, in the Admin go to Features/Kudos, then in the box "
Same goes for Accepted Solutions...

@RaySavich - if you are looking to exclude certain roles from your Leaderboards (Solution Leaderboard), I am pretty sure you can do that. Here is the information.
I am not sure if that is your issue - but this may help you.
I think we have the same general issue with our community composition and wanting to showcase and recognize customers (but with some differences).

Just a quick note to let everyone know that we are currently planning on making it so you can exclude roles from badges in 15.7. I will update this thread if anything changes.
