Full Site Feed (RSS / Other)

I'm looking at taking content out of our community to put links into it from some of our other websites.

When taking the RSS feed it only has the last 20 entries, whats the easiest way to get a full data export?

Thanks

Stuart

Hi @stutaylor

Unfortunately I don't quite understand what exactly you are looking for. Can you please explain again?

Do you want to add Community content and embed it to your other websites? Lithium ActiveCast would allow you to do that. Read more...

Hi

Basically i know that the following RSS feed

http://yourdomain.com/CommunityIDGoesHere/rss/Community

Will give me the last 20 posts from the community.

Is there something i can run which will give me all the posts from the community not limited to just 20?

Thanks

Stuart

Hi,

The RSS feeds are limited to 20 items in alignment with the RSS specification.

If you want to pull more community content you should have a look at the Lithium Community APIs. If you are just looking to read community information you should look at v2 (Read more about community API v1 versus v2). You would work with the "messages" collection in API v2.

A quick example of API v1 for the most recent topics on the Lithium Community is this XML output of the "Recent topics" request:

Can you give me a specific example of how to use these URLs to setup an RSS feed for a site?  For example, what is the "CommunityID" and "Community" for a https://www.southwestaircommunity.com/ sub forum?

Thanks!

The Community ID is sometimes also referred to as "Tenant ID" and is the unique ID of your Community within all Lithium communities. One one to obtain it is via Community Admin > System > API Apps by temporarily registering, e.g. a web app.

https://www.southwestaircommunity.com/htcpi66732/rss/Community is what you are looking for.

There's a few ways to obtain these RSS links:

  • Whenever you see the cogwheel "Options" menu item on a page, e.g. Forum Page or a Topic Page you can open that and copy link of the "Subscribe to RSS Feed" menu item
  • Every Lithium page already includes the machine readable information about all the available RSS feeds. This information is contained in <link ...> HTML tags within the page head which you can inspect using the "View source" or "Inspect Element" features of your browser. E.g. you can see dedicated RSS feeds for latest messages/ideas/blogs/knowledge base articles etc:

  • Some browsers support highlighting and picking up these RSS links right when accessing the page, sometimes you need to install a browser add-on to add that functionality.
