How long does spam quarantine hold a message?

I can't find the answer to this using search here.  If a message gets automatically deleted from the spam quarantine, how long does the spam quarantine hold a message before it's removed from the quarantine, and is it configurable?

After I've deleted spam and blocked a spammer, I usually delete the post from quarantine.  Currently, because of one event, I've got 27 pages of spam in my quarantine and, unfortunately, there's not an option to select them all and delete all checked.

Hi @kgroneman -

According to this document, the quarantine shows posts from the last 30 days.

You don't actually want to delete any messages in your spam folder as best I understand it - It uses those messages to help fine tune and enhance what to block.  The messages always remain there, but Lithium only shows the past 30 days.

@StanGromer can you point me to any documentation about that or can anyone verify that's the case?    Leaving them in the quarantine makes spam management a lot more difficult on our side as we ban them and track the spam information separately.  If I  leave them, then go back to the quarantine, I have no idea if I've already dealt with them or not.

I can't find anything that says to not delete it, but nothing that says you should lol.  How it is written I guess I just assumed it's meant to stay in there (Thus the 30 day hiding so you don't see the old stuff)

Important: During the first month, you should monitor the Spam Quarantine daily and confirm that the automated system is capturing the right content as spam. Take the time to mark mistakenly identified posts as Non Spam. Also, if you have Moderation Manager, mark spam posts as needed. This not only properly categorizes these posts, but also helps the spam management tools to learn more about your content and make better decisions in the future.

Note:  Spam is removed from view after 30 days in the Spam Quarantine, but can be found via the search bar found within the quarantine page.

@StanGromer  FYI I received a definitive answer from support on whether or not spam needs to stay in quarantine:

"Spam does not need to stay in quarantine for the spam system to function or update. What's important is that the content either automatically or manually be marked (as spam or not spam) and sent to quarantine, but after it's in quarantine what happens with it does not matter. "
