Messaging Group Membership

Good day everyone,

Is it possible to message all members of a Group?
Does this need to be with a post; can it be accomplished via private message?
I would like to @ mention or message all members to get their feedback or make an announcement.

Thank you,
Toby

No way to send a private message to everyone in a group today to my knowledge, I think the general idea is you use the group hub as the method to communicate.  We generally have been using the blog node for announcements in a hub since there is less need for a standard 'blog' in most of our group hubs.

Thanks @StanGromer - I appreciate the confirmation.
I know group members will be notified of new content.
Best,

Toby

@Toby the intent is to use the Group Hub as the way to message members in the group. Once they join, they'll be subscribed to updates, and depending on their notification settings, they can get a private message in their inbox letting them know of a new post.

Our overall strategy was to bring folks back into the conversation and stay updated on all of the group activity within the group hub. While we have thought about and explored options to send private messages, we chose a route that attempts to continually bring folks back together and provides awareness across the board.

An alternative option would be to broadcast a message to users of a Group Hub using the recently released Private Messages v3. There isn't a one-click to send to the entire Group Hub, but you could send it to multiple users using this functionality.

Cool - thanks @RayC - how do I upgrade to the new messenger?

@Toby I believe the best way is to open a Support ticket.

We've also got information on Atlas that goes over updating to v3 as well as details on the pages and quilts. But yea @JacobBo is correct.

One additional note that I forgot to mention. Although you are unable to select an entire Group Hub, you can select a specific node within the group hub, so a forum or blog from the private messages UI which will message all members.

Hello @RayC  how are you?

I take advantage of this discussion to ask if we can call in a discussion on our forum (not in a group) ranks (like @superfan or @communitymanager ) instead of members individually ?

This would be easier to interact with them on a daily basis 😉

Thx

Hi @alexandraG

We do have a way to send a group private message to users of a specific Rank. However, at the moment, we do not have the capability to @mention a specific rank. I'm including @SohilM so he's aware of the feedback as we consider future enhancements to the @mentions feature.

Thanks so much for the feedback.

Thanks @RayC .

As Ray mentioned,  on Private Messages v3, while sending a group private message,  you will be able to select a discussion style under the Group Hub and send a private message to all members of the Group Hub. Similarly, you can send a private message to users based on a specific rank or a role.

Both Broadcast and Multi-user private message can be sent. Currently the limit on broadcast is 1k and maximum limit for a multi-user message is 50. We are currently working on increasing the limit for broadcast message.

Thanks @alexandraG for the feedback on @mentions.  As Ray mentioned, we do not have a capability to @mention all users with a specific rank at once.

Hey @RayC  - having a hard time finding broadcast message documentation.

Does a broadcast message send an individual message to several members? Each of them would receive the same note sent direct from me to them?

This is as opposed to a group message in which members could reply all to each other...

Hi @aarontw , check out this Atlas post regarding the feature versions for private messages, specifically v3 for broadcasting a message.

I hope that helps.

This is what I was looking for and couldn't find! Thank you!!

@RayC is the functionality to send a broadcast message to members of a node still available? I recall seeing it previously but for some reason I only see the Role/Rank options now
