Hello,
Good morning.
I would like to know if there's any way of moving posts from a forum to another in bulk? Instead of mving one by one.
Thank you!
Best regards,
Adriana
Heya @adriana4u!
Batch processing will be your friend here - and if the board is larger consider changing how many topics you view at one time in your settings, 200 is the max I think.
Atlas - Use batch processing to act on multiple threads or posts at once
Protip; Let's say you're merging two boards that have been open for a while. If you move board B into A the merged board topics will be out of order date wise. To address this, move all but one topic from B to A. Then, when you move the final topic from B to A, you'll see an option to sort the destination board, A, by chronological order. Be mindful of the board size since this is system intensive!
Recently I moved discussions from one forum to another and they were properly sorted in chronological order. It was a terrifying task but the result was a thing of beauty.
Of course, now that I need to do it again I'm not getting my tests to work properly. Ultimately I'm not finding how to get them sorted in chronological order in their new forum.
This Move forum posts article says "Select whether to sort the posts chronologically in the new location. " I'm not being prompted for any chronological sorting. WHAT am I missing?? Time is of the essence, of course.
So here's what I see - where should I see sorting options?
@lindahav, Post and replies will remains the same when you move the post from on forum to another.
To have different sorting in the view of forums page you need to change the settings from Admin -> Posts & Topics -> Topics Display. See screenshot below:
thanks @Parshant
I found and tested those settings a bit and didn't see what I'd hoped.
THEN I found where to "Select whether to sort the posts chronologically in the new location!"
Seems I needed to click that last post (the one I left behind per the Move forum posts article) to open/view it. Then select Move Message. In the displayed form, I find the mysterious sort chronological checkbox.
I couldn't be happier.
Thank you for responding in my hour(s) of need!
