I've tried to find this in the communty to no avail. My question is when you set an idea status as COMPLETED, what does that do? Is it searchable? Can people still vote and comment on it? The information bubble only says that it displays to users as being closed.
Completed Status usually closes the topic down - no more comments or kudos can be assigned to it. This allows you to "close the book" on that idea. This is typically used for things that are implemented.
Unfortunately, that's not the way it works in our community. I just tested as a regular user, no special roles, and I could kudo, and comment on an issue what was marked 'Delivered' or the others marked with completed status. 😞 From what I can tell, it does exactly what the information bubble says, and no more. It displays to users as being closed.
I found this article. Apparently marking an idea COMPLETED does nothing but add the tag to the idea. To turn off kudos and comments, you have to do so on each article:
You should be able to select in Admin > Discussions > Ideas
"Prevent users from giving kudos on completed Ideas"
Any Status created that is set to "Completed" means votes/kudos can be shut off for multiple scenarios (e.g. "Rejected").
Thanks @ScottR. I hadn't noticed that setting and nobody else, even Lithium support pointed that out. That works for half of it, the kudos part. As far as I can tell, you still can't stop people from posting unless you move it to somewhere they can't.
Thanks..I had overlooked that one. Too bad there's not a way to globaly do that like you can with Kudos. I think I've got it figured out now...thanks everyone!
Nope. I thought about possiblily moving completed ideas to another area, but decided against it as I want all product ideas together.
Spoke to one of our engineers and he provided the following. I hope it's helpful in what you're trying to do.
There is no way to close comments on multiple Idea's (bulk), however there is a UI and REST API to close comments on a single Idea. As a customization they could potentially create a custom REST Endpoint that iterates over a set of messages and calls the REST call to close comments emulating a batch (bulk) operation.
Via the UI
Options Menu>>Block New Comments
