I have staff moderators and noticed that one of them was able to change his username as well as anyone else's.
When I looked at the permissions, the section under "Moderation" is all "deny" as well as the section under "User Management".
While I trust my staff mods, it's a power that I prefer them not to have and am just curious which setting turns this "on".
Thanks,
Lana
Solved! Go to Solution.
What roles does your moderation team have? And what permissions did you grant in order for your team to do moderation if all of those permissions are set to deny? Everything under user management and moderation is set to deny, correct? Does the team have the OOB required moderation role?
It's a role I've customized vs. OOTB. I just wanted them to be able to edit any user's post and move posts in case a user posted a question in the wrong forum.
I've allowed them to
Under User Management
Under Moderation
If all you are granting is those three permissions then it should not give them access to moderator controls. That being the case my first thought is that they might have another role that is giving more access.
Do they have any other roles assigned?
Hi @lana_lee
I agree with @DanK here.
I created a test moderator role on my community and assigned the permissions one by one and none of those resulted in the ability to see the moderator controls on the user profile page.
Either a permission slipped in or another role was assigned such as the required moderator role?
Or it's a bug but I don't think that's very likely....
If you have a screenshot of the role assigned and the permission we can perhaps scan through.
Good luck!

Figured it out...I was looking at the wrong permission role /facepalm.
Thanks for all of the problem-solving! š
Lana
Well, hahaha, at least you figured it out. Which permission where you looking at?š
Lol yeah. I had a Support Moderator role tucked away. Only a handful of people have that role, which is why I overlooked it. š
I'm glad that I wasn't going mad because, in all of the other perms, something didn't add up. After a while, things all start looking the same...
haha well, funny story. I do think it could be easier to manage roles and permission especially when it comes to reviewing which roles have which permissions assigned. It's quite a tedious job to align permissions across roles or do housekeeping so to say.
Have a great day!
