Hi All,
This was active on my community but it was removed by an admin in error. Anyone know how I can make it so new members cannot send a PM without posting first? As a rule/role for a new member.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Create a role that has PM permissions denied.
Set this as a role that is applied to all new users.
Create another role that has the permissions setup as you want.
Have this role granted with a rank earned after creating 1 post.
Be sure the previous role is also removed when earning this rank.
Hi @Rachie1986 - I don't believe there are specific instructions on how to do this, but there is general documentation here on roles and ranks:

Thanks @lilim I've created a new role with Pms turned off and I already have the new member role. so how can I make both work together? is that the ranking piece? So I'll need to create a new rank that holds both the New member role and the blocked PM role and then another rank with 1 post which only holds the new member role. Does that make sense? In other words am i correct in thinking that will work?
Can you make the new member role just not have the permission to send PMs? That way you don't have to worry about 2 different roles. Or do you intend for the New Member role to go beyond just the user's first post?
The article here has info on assigning a role with a rank:

Yeah you see I'm working off an existing structure and New member is the role common to 4 ranks which probably needs to be looked at.
