Changing from Subdomain to Folder?

Hey Everyone,

At some point in the near future, i'll be moving away from a subdomain setup  {community.talktalk.co.uk} for my community and towards a folder on a single domain {talktalk.co.uk/community} I was wondering if anyone has made a similar change or is running a community with a folder setup?

I'm keen to hear experiences or lessons learned or anything of interest to help me with this process.

Thanks

Stephen

Re: Changing from Subdomain to Folder?

Hey mate,

From an SEO perspective, the majority of experts agree, that subfolders work better over subdomains. There are always some exceptions. This recent article covers it well - https://www.stonetemple.com/subfolders-subdomains-microsites-and-seo/

From a Lithium operational perspective, Lithium OOB runs from the root folder so form actions are usually the main gotcha. I'm pretty sure PS can configure a subfolder so it's 100%.
