It was pleasing to see MYOB's hugely popular idea exchange and "buzzing community" get the kudos for helping to transform the company and get second place in the prestigious annual BRW Most Innovative Companies list for 2015, turning the tables on their rival Xero.
"MYOB spends $45 million a year on research and development and a slice of that is allocated to managing the 100-plus staff client support team, whom Reed believes are best placed to understand the needs of the clients and hear what they might be missing.
“Sometimes we have an idea pop up and we’re like, why didn’t we think of that before?” he says.
When a customer wondered how to easily monitor the regularity with which employees were clocking sick days, the client support team registered the idea and within months a “sick leave overuse warning” appeared in the MYOB interface.
What the support team registers is often in line with what the humming community boards are showing. An active Ideas Centre has discussion from hundreds of users, requesting small cosmetic changes to the layout of their spreadsheets or systemic changes to the order of operations.
From the 2,764 suggestions that have been submitted, 114 ideas have been implemented."
Congrats to @Suja and the team.
Thank you for the shout out, @JasonHill.
We're absolutely blown away by the news that MYOB was ranked number two in the annual BRW Most Innovative Companies list for 2015! Me and the Social Support team of course are extremely proud of our contributions to this via the MYOB Community Forum and its Idea Exchange board.
Thank you, Jason for everything you've done to get the MYOB Forum to be a truly buzzing community.
Love Your Work!!
