Meta resolved an issue on Feb. 6, 2022 impacting Facebook follower metrics in the Marketing platform. Due to this issue accurate follower data was unavailable from the end of Nov. 2021 through Feb. 5, 2022 for classic Facebook pages that had not transitioned to the New Pages Experience

This impacted the Facebook Followers and New Followers metrics in Marketing dashboards and data exports. During this time, follower metrics were inconsistent, appearing lower than the native platform with intermittent spikes. Facebook follower demographic widgets and pages using the New Page Experience were not impacted.

Since the resolution of the issue on Feb. 6, 2022 follower metrics are now closer to those seen on classic pages. However, since they are based off of the New Page Experience, even if the page hasn't transitioned to it, they may be slightly different. The New Page Experience removes fans that have opted out of following, whereas they are included as followers on classic pages. Read more here

Note that the New Page Experience follower metric is the only comprehensive follower metric available via the Facebook API and is the suggested metric to use. Data for this metric during the time period above cannot be backfilled.
