Last year, Instagram answered many of your wishes by opening their API to allow users to schedule image posts. Gone were the days of being glued to your phone every time you needed to schedule a post on Instagram!

As a Facebook and Instagram partner, we are excited to announce that Instagram has added even more functionality by allowing you to schedule videos in Spredfast!

Starting today, you can create, publish, and schedule organic images and videos directly from the Spredfast Publishing Dialogue without switching to the mobile app for direct publishing.

Now you re able to:

  • Schedule Instagram videos directly within Conversations, without the need to publish from the Instagram app
  • Apply labels to Instagram video posts to understand attribution and optimize video content strategies
  • View or filter Instagram video posts, alongside other scheduled or published content, in the Conversations Calendar

To get started, simply specify Instagram as a channel and upload a properly formatted video from your computer, Content Center, or any other integrated content source.

What videos are accepted?

As with images, Instagram has strict requirements regarding what videos are allowed through the API. We will provide you with a warning if your video will not post through the API. For videos that do not meet the API requirements, you are still allowed to publish using the mobile handoff.

To ensure that your video will succeed, please create your content with these specifications:

Duration:

  • Minimum Duration: 3 seconds
  • Maximum Duration: 60 seconds

Aspect Ratio:

  • Minimum Aspect Ratio: 4:5
  • Maximum Aspect Ratio: 16:9

Files:

  • Maximum File Size: 100MB
  • Accepted File Types: 3g2, 3gp, 3gpp, asf, avi, dat, divx, dv, f4v, flv, m2ts, m4v, mkv, mod, mov, mp4, mpe, mpeg, mpeg4, mpg, mts, nsv, ogm, ogv, qt, tod, ts, vob, wmv

Thank You!

Hi youknowmercia whilst there isn't a specific TKB on publishing video to Instagram, the Marketing knowledge base does have a section dedicated to publishing content.

The process of adding media to an outbound post is similar across all channels (specify the social network,  then upload a properly formatted video from your computer, Content Center, or any other integrated content source), so it's likely you'll find everything you need there.
