KrisS we are primarily concerned with the output format, it's not that roles don't work "natively", but if a custom component relied on the ID string of a role to enable certain features or whatnot, they stop working because the <#if> condition doesn't get trough anymore due to the changed ID string. Maybe the output didn't change for the users collection that you are showing as an example above, but the queries I'm seeing the change is on the roles collection, e.g. something like
"SELECT id FROM roles WHERE users.id = '${user.id}' LIMIT 100"
compare the API response for this query on a v22.4 instance vs an earlier one, can you verify that the id's are different?
