Publishing

When the user adds either Facebook, Twitter, or Pinterest channels and uploads an image/s, there is a new section called ‘Accessibility’ that comes up in the left side panel.

Under the ‘Accessibility’ section, the user can see all the images that are uploaded into the publishing window, and for each image, the user can add individual Alt text.

Note: Adding Alt text is optional.

The number of characters that are allowed as Alt text is shown right below the text box.

If a new image is added or removed the list of images will be automatically updated in the ‘Accessibility’ section.

User can add multiple channels and Alt text will be published to all the channels that support it i.e. Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest

If any channel is added in which Alt text is not supported a warning message will be shown inside the Accessibility tab. Like in the screenshot below LinkedIn is added as one of the channels and Alt text is not supported there. So ‘Alt text is not supported on LinkedIn’  warning message is shown inside the Accessibility tab.

For Pinterest, Alt text can be also added to the image pulled from the website

The rest of the publishing features will function as is.

Side Panel

In the Calendar side panel under the ‘Basics’ tab, we have created a new field called ‘Accessibility’ which will have the flag ‘Image has ALT text’ if there is at least one image with Alt text in the published post

Post Publishing

After publishing the Alt text will be shown to the user based on the social media page settings.

Version 6.0
  • This is a much welcomed addition to what Khoros offers! Our company is very serious about accessibility because we work with Government agencies that also need to be extremely serious about making sure all content is accessible. Thank you for taking our requests seriously and working to get both SRT and ALT text incorporated into Marketing. Please let us know as soon as the Linkedin capabilities for those of these features are available!

For Instagram unfortunately there is no API support for the same. Once the API support is available we will integrate into the platform.
  • An important update, thank you. For what it's worth - "alt" is a contraction of "alternative text" and not an acronym.

Next day edit: thanks for correcting this!

  • We would love to use the publisher on Khoros too. At the moment the platform has been so great for us using Marketing, Care and Intellingence. But in order to publish, we really need the platform to match its use with Later, the app we are currently using to work with Instagram, with feed and posts links preview. This asset allows our client to see the aesthetic of the hole planification.

Thanks for suggesting that correction to us Yannis! Little things like this do make a difference, and we are glad that we have customers with a great eye for detail. 😀

  • ShyamK Is this currently in the works for Instagram and is there a timeline we can share. One of my customer would love to see this for other networks.
