Users will now be able  to create and schedule posts with multi-videos, stories and Reels with Instagram via the mobile handoff workflow.

Users will also be able to filter by content types  (Feed, stories, Reels) for Instagram on the calendar.

1. Publish Stories to Instagram Via Mobile Handoff

Select ‘Stories’’ from the Placement dropdown menu and create a story in the publishing window..Once you select stories from the dropdown, you will be guided to the mobile handoff workflow. Navigate to the Instagram tab on the left side panel and choose the publisher.

Users will be able to publish up to 10 images or videos for a story. The duration for each of the videos should be under 15 seconds. The stories published via mobile handoff will be matched with the stories published natively.

Schedule the story in the same manner you schedule any Instagram post that requires the mobile handoff workflow.

When it is time to publish your story, you will receive an email and app notification. Click on the link to publish the post. This will prompt you to open the Khoros Marketing app, where you can see your scheduled post. Click on it to open it, and click the Instagram icon in the bottom right-hand corner to go to Instagram.

You will see instructions for choosing the images/videos that were scheduled in your post. Click OK.

The app will ask you to open Instagram.

Create your story on Instagram. Select the images/ videos between the “Select Icons.” Do not choose the Select Icons; these are only in place to show you where your chosen images begin and end so you don’t accidentally include something that was not previously approved.

Note: Be sure to select your videos/images in the order you would like them displayed. The order in which they are selected is the order in which they will appear. Once you have selected your videos, continue on to add filters, locations, and tag users, as desired. Please ensure ordering, count of images/videos, video duration remains the same across both publishing window as well as instagram channel .This allows items scheduled via mobile hand-off which are later auto-imported to be matched and identified as the same piece of content in the calendar and analytics.

2. Publish Reels to Instagram Via Mobile Handoff

Select ‘Reels’ from the Placement dropdown menu and create a reel in the publishing window..Once you select Reel from the dropdown, you will be guided to the mobile handoff workflow. Navigate to the Instagram tab on the left side panel and choose the publisher.

Users will be able to publish up to 10 videos for Reels. The total  duration of all the videos combined  should not exceed 60 seconds.

When it is time to publish your reel, you will receive an email and app notification. Click on the link to publish the post. This will prompt you to open the Khoros Marketing app, where you can see your scheduled post. Click on it to open it, and click the Instagram icon in the bottom right-hand corner to go to Instagram

You will see instructions for choosing the videos that were scheduled in your post. Click OK

When the app asks to access your images/videos, click OK. If you do not allow this, then the app cannot download the images/videos to your camera roll for you to publish. your images/videos will be downloaded, including the Select Icons.

The app will ask you to open Instagram. Create your reel on instagram. Select the videos between the “Select Icons.” Do not choose the Select Icons; these are only in place to show you where your chosen images begin and end so you don’t accidentally include something that was not previously approved.

Note: Be sure to select your videos in the order you would like them displayed. The order in which they are selected is the order in which they will appear. Once you have selected your videos, continue on to add filters, locations, and tag users, as desired.

Schedule the post  in the same manner you schedule any Instagram post that requires the mobile handoff workflow. Please ensure ordering, videos, video duration remains the same across both publishing window as well as instagram channel .This allows items scheduled via mobile hand-off which are later auto-imported to be matched and identified as the same piece of content in the calendar and analytics.

4. Guidelines for Matching

When publishing to Instagram via mobile handoff from the Khoros platform, it’s important to keep consistent photo and video  data during the mobile handoff. This includes:

  • Post type (feed or story)
  • Order and resolution
  • Count of Photos / Video Length
  • Length/characters of the text/description

If any aspect of this data is skewed, posts/stories will be auto-imported as different posts, and the Khoros platform will flash a “Not-Matching” notification on the post, preventing analytics from being able to pull data.

Note:

  • Addition of filters will not have any impact on matching.
  • Publishing currently does not support native Instagram creative tools  on stories so these will cause a “not-matching” notification.
  • Reels are currently only available via mobile, but they will always be "not matching" and as such won't be able to pull data for analytics
  • Because of API limitations, Reels published natively on instagram channel cannot be auto-imported onto Calendar.
  • Users will be able to publish only images or videos as part of post/story. Scheduling posts with combination of images and videos is not yet supported.

IG recently announced extending the limit for Stories from 15 to 60 seconds. Does Khoros have plans (roadmap) to extend the existing 15sec limit via the mobile handoff? Thanks!
