Bring back Khoros search

RE: https://community.khoros.com/t5/Khoros-Customer-Blog/We-re-launching-federated-search-on-Atlas/ba-p/759431

I miss Khoros search. I can't believe I am saying this, but it worked a lot better for me. As some may imagine, I am a fairly frequent user of Atlas search. My ability to find anything to help folks has diminished so much that I just give up.

For example, I am trying to find the search - export to CSV article. That shows how to use the export to CSV functionality in search.  I spent 5 minutes trying, I quit. I for the life of me can't find it.

Hilariously, as I am posting this topic, i think to try the automatic search suggestions on the top nav, it finds what I want instantly.  Why are you doing this to us? (Also isn't it a super weird experience to have two entirely different search tools now in Atlas?)

Edit - Also just realized the old search is still available -> https://community.khoros.com/t5/forums/searchpage/tab/message?q=export%20to%20csv&noSynonym=false&inactive=false&collapse_discussion=true
Please don't take it away and I'll forget I ever said anything, but also leaving this up for everyone else to benefit from

  • Unless this is a pilot project for replacing the underlying search mechanism (Elasticsearch?) for us all, I feel like it's an odd thing for a vendor to abandon their own product's search platform in favor of another one.

At the same time, I understand why Khoros would do it. It's the same reason we, as customers, would want to bring in other results to our own community's search experience.

StanGromer Appreciate the feedback, as always!

Much of the challenge right now around finding product docs has less to do with SearchUnify itself, and more to do with our restructure. This happened post-implementation of federated search, and is now making it impossible to find those same docs via federated search (because the areas it was searching changed).

This isn't difficult to fix and we are working to solve it ASAP, but it has meant that folks have to go through native search to find things in the short term. Meanwhile, I'll add a reminder to our Announcements section on the main page to let people know. Again, I appreciate you flagging it.

Drew_C Fair feedback. We saw this as an opportunity to show our customers what they can achieve by teaming up with our partners on third-party solutions. Like with any of our customers, building good processes with third-party teams is an ongoing effort and we'll continue to smooth out these kinds of wrinkles over time.

Leaving the status as Investigating for now, in case we get more feedback here in the short term along the lines of the above.

Quick follow-up: Now that we've resolved issues with search, docs should be showing up correctly StanGromer

Let us know if that doesn't greatly improve your search experience. Marking this as Resolved until I hear otherwise. 🙂
