This is why we love our passionate community!
When we redesigned our .com and community, our goal was to provide a fully integrated digital experience and to achieve that, the rebrand was necessary as we thought about the future of the community and overall brand.
There's no turning back now, but in our hearts, you know it will always remain Lithosphere!

Maybe we will do a #TBT image for the hero one of these weeks with a Lithosphere title ;-)
Julie is correct in that part of our best practices includes integrating community into the digital experience, and a separate name makes that harder. Furthermore we had the challenge that we have internal and external community running together, so we still use Lithosphere for our internal community definition, and it helps be clear when you are internal V's external.
How many of you all 'brand' your community with a different name? We had Airheads at Aruba.... any others out there?

TELUS has The Neighbourhood, Sephora has BeautyTalk, there are several others? Branding a community is taught as a best practice by the Lithium strategy arms.
So... :)

I think names that mean something, Beauty Talk for example, are good examples where it can work. Its descriptive and obvious what's going on there. If you have a better idea for the Lithium Community (exc. Lithosphere), let me know :-)

I get that, but I think it's also that a community was built around the brand of the Lithosphere, and then that brand was taken away. From what I understand, a lot of the community still calls it the Lithosphere, and it's laregly referred to as the Lithosphere by Li team as well. It almost seems adversarial to not just call it the Lithosphere :)
I get the desire to brand/combine the .com with the community, but does dong that benefit the community? As well, isn't it confusing in conversation to talk about Lithium community as The Community vs. the product?
I hope I'm not coming across scrappy, I just see an opportunity to share the community around the participants for the participants.

Wow Scotty, adversarial? That may be a little strong a term for this mate ;-)
All your points are well taken and we appreciate the passion. There are many things we are working through as a company with our brand overall, not least how we integrate the Klout brand into our overall strategy, and as we work through those we will keep your comments in mind. Im always open to continue the discussion over a beer sometime! Cheers.

lol yeah, well. I got a rise, though, right? :) Point taken.
All fair, and I totally get it. I'm still calling it the Lithopshere, though ;) If I ever get down to SF again, I will totally take you up on that beer.
