Label Rule conditions can now be set-up for Ads published on Facebook and Instagram
To create a rule for an Ad, navigate to unified admin, click on ‘Label Rules’ under Publishing in the left side menu, select “Ads” from the “For” dropdown and click on “Create Ad Rule’
A modal window will appear once “Create Ad Rule” is clicked
Step 1: Name the rule
Step 2: Select labels that need to be applied to the rule
Step 3: Define one or more conditions for when the label(s) specified in Step 2 will be applied. Conditions can include defined lists of any of the fields described below.
- Ad Account
- Ad Set Name
- Audience - Age
- Audience - Gender
- Campaign Name
- Format
- Location - Country
- Location - Region
- Objective
- Placement - Device
- Placement - Platform
- Social Account
- Social Channel
- Text (Primary text)
- Title (Ad Name)
Text Input Guidelines
- Letters are not case sensitive.
- Keywords/phrases must contain at least one letter
- Most of the special characters are supported
The following types of conditions can be selected for ads:
‘Ad account’
Search for/select one or more ad accounts from the dropdown.
‘Ad Set Name’
Define the ad set name(s) the condition will apply to, using an exact phrase, a combination of words or any of the list of words to match the ad set name in Facebook Ads Manager..When a condition contains more than one item use AND/OR logic to specify how the label is applied, displayed as “AT LEAST ONE” (or) and “EACH AND EVERY” (and)
Audience - 'Age Range’
Define single or multiple age ranges separated by commas
Audience - 'Gender’
Choose single or multiple selections for the gender from the dropdown.
‘Campaign Name’
Define the ad campaign name(s) the condition will apply to, using an exact phrase, a combination of words or any of the list of words to match the ad campaign name in Facebook Ads Manager.
'Format’
Select one or more applicable formats from the dropdown: photo, carousel, video and Photo album (Collection) for Facebook and Instagram.
Location - 'Country’
Search/select one or more countries from the dropdown.
Location - 'Region’
Enter one or more regions separated by commas.
‘Objective’
Select one or more Facebook-defined objectives from the dropdown.
'Placement - Device' Condition
Select the Facebook-defined placement devices from the dropdown.
'Placement - Platform'
Select the Facebook-defined placement platforms from the dropdown.
‘Social Account’
The social account(s) the ad has been imported from: Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin.
‘Social channel’
The social channel(s) the ad has been imported from: Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn.
‘Title’
Enter the Keyword - exact phrase, a combination of words or any of the list of words to match the 'Ad Name 'in Facebook ads manager.
‘Text’
Enter the Keyword - exact phrase, a combination of words or any of the list of words to match the Primary text in Facebook ads manager.
Limitations/Blockers
- Labels will only be applied to ads that fit the conditions at the time they are imported. If any edits are made to ads after they’re imported, the ads will not be run through the rules again - labels would have to be manually adjusted
- Rules are not retroactive. Once you have saved a rule, it will go into effect and begin automatically labeling new auto-imported items that meet the rule's criteria. A rule will not retroactively label items imported prior to the rule's creation.
- At the moment, the ad specific conditions can be defined for Facebook and Instagram ads only
