Now Available: Custom Defined Metrics

What is this?

Within Khoros Marketing Analytics, customers now have the ability to create their own custom metrics!

When would I use this?

Do you ever find yourself wishing that you could recalculate Engagement? Does your company have a specific formula you use to calculate a metric? Starting today, you can now calculate metrics in ways that make sense for you.

This sounds great! Where can I find it?

If you have Full Access to Analytics, you can build your own custom metrics within Khoros Marketing Analytics.

From the Analytics dropdown, choose Custom Metrics.

Click the Create Custom Metric button.

Create a new metric by giving it a name and a description.

Select the type of metric that you would like to create: ad, organic post, or account metric. Notice that you cannot combine metric types. We have prevented this, as do many analytics tools, to prevent you from trying to combine apples with oranges.

Create your calculation by selecting metrics and defining your order of operations. You can select a metric by typing the name of the metric or selecting it from the searchable and filtered list.

Determine if you would like your metric to be displayed as a percentage, number, or currency.

Click the Create button to save the custom metric.

Who has access to the new metrics and widgets?

Anyone can use a custom metric that has been created, but only roles with Full Access to Analytics can create a custom metric. You can only edit and delete custom metrics that you have created.

Where can I use these metrics in my reporting?

The metrics can be found in Data Exports. We will follow up with adding Custom Metrics to the dashboards and widgets, but we wanted to put this in your hands as quickly as possible to use and provide feedback.

What else do I need to know?

We have limited the number of custom metrics that you can create to 10 custom metrics. Within each custom metric, you can include up to 20 metrics.

We hope that these limits help you keep your data clean. If you find that you are too restricted, please reach out to our Support team to have the number of available custom metrics increased.

Where can I share feedback?

If you already see opportunities for valuable enhancements to the feature, please share your feedback in the Marketing Idea Board in Atlas. If you have questions about functionality that the documentation does not include, you can post in the Marketing Discussion Board in Atlas or reach out to your account team who can get you answers.

Kenia_Dominguez Yes -- you are able to use custom metrics in the marketing dashboard. This link here contains an article and a video outlining how to build custom metrics. Also, in this article you can find additional resources on understanding custom metrics and how to use them within the marketing dashboard.

jessemccarl You'll want to make sure you add operators (+ - * /) in between the metrics in the calculation

  • Everything I've tried to create triggers this alert: metric at position 1 is not allowed after metric. Does anyone know what this means or how I can address it?
