Adding Labels via REST api - Edit Message the only way?

Hey   Just wondering is /messages/id/[id] /edit the only way to added additional Labels to a post via the REST api? We are looking for an alternative such that the message doesn't actually show up...

Regarding editing, there are ways you can remove the edit text in general, but that may be overkill for your purposes. Unfortunately, there's not really a good way to suppress it just for edits that were due to labels.
