API v2 call to return topic/Article views

It seems it is not possible to return the total views for the specific article/topic. We have staff on our community site that has MBO's tied to the number of views they generate on the articles/pos...

    SELECT metrics.views from messages where id = '777'

     For specific author

    SELECT metrics.views from messages where author.id= '7'
