Block new Replies via API... Can it be done?

Hey,

 

Im looking for an easy way to close/lock a load of old threads and essentially this will be achieved by blocking new replies however the time taken to do this even with batch processing is gonna take a long time and i got wondering if API could help me.

 

Is it possible to achieve the following with either API v1 or v2: 

 

  • Show all topics in a specific board older that a specific date
  • Update all topics that meet the above and block all replies on said topics

 

Sorry if its a stupid question, wanabe developer with little knowledge :)
