Custom Featured Topics Component

I'm quite sure I'm just missing the obvious due to my beginner skill here, but I am officially stumped on creating a custom featured topics component. I've searched everywhere, read entirely too many...

If you want all of the featured threads from across the community, then the REST API call is:

http://community.example.com/[community name]/restapi/vc/threads/featured

 

If you only want featured forum threads, it would be:
http://community.example.com/[community name]/restapi/vc/threads/style/forum/featured
