Customize Search Component

I currently don't see any context objects that I can take advantage of for the search component.  If that is not possible, is it at least possible to override some of the javascript functionality in the search component without having to build from scratch?

What kind of customization were you looking to do? Based on your requirements, I might be able to suggest some alternatives.
