Federated Search in Community

Hi, I came accross many topics regarding the federated search, but all of them are such that the community results are being fetched via REST, and then displayed on their .com end, rather than the clubbed results in lithium community itself. Any examples where we can see the .com and the external search results clubbed with the community being displayed inside the lithium community?

We are currently working on such project, but the endpoints are not supporting the special character in the requests we are making to fetch the filtered results. Though the case is with lithium support, but any examples would be helpful.
