Filtering messages by post time

How do I filter messages by post_time?
I can retrieve a set of messages from the speakers board:

No, I dont think you would want to narrow it by page size. I'm not a developer (so I dont know where you would put the '?' argument), but I think you would want to use this type of query string format *somewhere* in your call:
<yyyy>-<MM>-<dd>T<HH>:<mm>:<ss><ZZ>
For example:
2006-08-25T15:30:00-08:00 for August 25, 2006 at 3:30pm in the PST time zone (-8 compared to GMT)
would look like...
date_start=2009-07-01&date_end=2009-07-08
This does not appear to be work. I tried adding the date_start=2009-07-01&date_end=2009-07-08 to the URL using appropriate date values for the data but an empty result was returned.
From what I can learn, there does not appear to be a solution for filtering out by post_date using the REST API alone.
I can get a result using this call:

I just noticed, that this call is predicated upon 'metrics' in the URL, so it will come up flat if you dont have access to metrics (but then again, using 'metrics' is just what I pulled out for this example).
Here is an example of a working date call with time:
# posts in last 24 hours in this category
http://hifi.stage.lithium.com/hifi/restapi/vc/categories/id/Products/metrics/name/posts?date_start=2008-03-11T00:00:00Z
(you'll have to tinker with this URL and plug in your own community, but it should work)
