How can I over ride the default avatar component on the community level?

I want to add a pop-over functionality whenever an avatar is displayed that shows some user details. Is this possible? I have created a custom component to use on the view-profile page. But ultimatel...

have you had a look at the following KB article ? It has a few good pointers to override the behaviour of the core lithium components.
