How can I over ride the default avatar component on the community level?

I want to add a pop-over functionality whenever an avatar is displayed that shows some user details. Is this possible? I have created a custom component to use on the view-profile page. But ultimatel...

I believe the name of the component you're looking for is common.widget.user-avatar

I'm not familiar off-hand with the implementeation you mentioned, but this discussion here talks about the overall approach:
