Those examples you provided are actually custom components developed specifically to meet the needs of those communities. There are two standard browser components available via Studio. Under the "Components" menu in Studio, if you expand "Forums", in the list you'll find these two components:
- Community - The verbose community listing that you're probably already familiar with. This component is typically used only in the main content area.
- Community Browser - This version is more compact, and allows the category nodes to be expanded and contracted. This component is typically used only in the side content area.
