How to get top contributors for a specific date range

We'd like to implement a widget that lists our top authors ordered by number of posts within a specific date range (the last 30 days). We didn't find anything which matches with our needs, so we were thinking to create a custom component.

Is there a restapi call we can use to get a specific number of users ordered by posts written within a specific date range? As we understood we can do that for kudos and solutions, but that is not what we need.
