Introductory guide for new devs for a behind-the-scenes integration?

I’m working to get some agency developers started with a behind-the-scenes integration between our Khoros community and Salesforce (using Mulesoft as middleware).

Is there a best practices doc / nice intro deck for this kind of behind-the-scenes integration? I know basically that we should use session key authentication with a service user, and that generally we should use the v2 api as much as possible and v1 when we can’t. But that doesn’t seem like enough guidance.

would love additional best practices, links to docs/decks, or other words of wisdom!
