Message Limitation and Archiving These

Hi everyone,

My first post so go easy. :smileyhappy:

Our forums include a lot of interaction using private messges and we are almost at page 72 of the message pages. Am I correct in saying there is a limit of up to 100 pages in relation to the amount of private messags we can store? Will this then mean that the oldest private messages will begin to drop off?

I am wondering if anyone knows of a way we can archive these messages into a document or spreasheet; is there a system or process in place which means this can be automated or do we require to archive these manually, doing a good old copy and paste job?

Any help and advise would be much appreciated!

Thanks.

    Hi Michael,

Welcome to the Lithopshere! As far as I know, there is no internal limit to the number of saved Private Messages.

If you did want to externally export/archive the PMs, there are REST API methods available for accessing PMs. There would be a little development work involved on your part, but still a lot easier than copy and pasting! If you're interested in learning more about this, check out our REST API documentation. Specially, you'll want to look for the mailbox methods in the User class.

  • Hi,

Thanks for the input from both of you.

I'll certainly have a look into that.
