Post forum message that is not a question

Hi there. We are in the evaluation process of various social platforms. Lithium looks very good thus far and I like the ability to mark a response to a forum post as an answer to the question, however, not all posts are questions. Is it possible to make a post that cannot be marked as answered? In most cases it doesn't really matter because the author of a non-question post will probably not mark a response as an answer, but consider the following. I'd like to use the REST API to incorporate key features in our application and one goal is to have a notification that indicates how many unanswered questions are still outstanding. It should filter out the chit chat that sometimes appears in our community and display only those posts that are real questions. I made a test post the other day and have looked at the API and don't see anything that looks relevant.

Thanks,

Michael

  • Hi Michael,
I can't see any option to disable "Accepted solutions" on a thread by thread basis. Usually you cut out the chit chat via the community structure where you seperated boards with e.g. mainly support questions and general discussion boards. Moderators then take care to have those few messages moved to the correct board if the community users post on the wrong board.

This way you can still incorporate into your application the "unanswered questions" metrics.

You can, however, turn of Accepted Solutions at the board level.  If you have a General Discussions board, you can disable Accepted Solutions for that whole board.
