Is there any way to do this at all? I know how to set it to only pull from forums or q&as, but that's a blanket setting, not the more specific one that I'm trying to enable.

The only way to do this as far as I know is to use the hide from lists and menus as described here: http://lithosphere.lithium.com/t5/support-knowledge-base/Hide-from-lists-and-menus/ta-p/66690
This will hide the board from all lists and menus, you will then need to provide your own link to the board so that it is accessible.

Hmm, ok. That doesn't stop posts from appearing in "recent posts" etc, unfortunately. It just stops the forum from showing in the Community, Community Browser, etc. components.
I guess there's no way to do this, huh?
